On October 3, 1994 in Honolulu, Hawaii; the USPS issued this colorful Se-Tenant block of four stamps, dubbed by some collectors as the “fanta-sea” stamp, this stamp’s First Day of Issue ceremony was held aboard submarines 80 feet underwater off the coast of Hawaii’s Waikiki Beach. The ceremony marked the first time a U.S. stamp was canceled underwater. It was issued to commemorate stamp collecting month, the theme of which was: “Get in the swim of things – collect stamps!” Shown are: Diver & Motorboat, Diver & Ship, Diver & Ship’s Wheel, and Diver & Coral.
